2019-2020 WordMasters Challenge Meet #3 Results

How profoundly the world has changed between Meets #2 and #3 of the 2019-2020 WordMasters Challenge™! Due to the hard work and dedication of our Team Leaders and students, as well as some flexibility here at WordMasters, we were able to complete the third and final meet of the 2019-2020 WordMasters Challenge™ amid the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.  Congratulations to all our participants, especially those representing the Top Ten schools in each division listed below as well as the students who achieved a perfect score of 20 on the most recent Challenge test.

It is difficult to compare the Meet #3 results to prior tests or competition years given the unique circumstances of remote learning.  The majority of our enrolled teams completed the final meet of the year before the extended deadline of May 15th, and all published results are based solely on scores submitted by this date.  Please note that since we are leaving the score submission database open until June 1st to accommodate schools that were not able to complete testing by May 15th, these "late" data entries will impact the system-generated reports accessible through the View Reports page on your dashboard.  The "official" results appear below and are accessible through the RESULTS tab on our website homepage.

Team Leaders and parents, please keep in mind that scores in the WordMasters Challenge™ do not reflect typical classroom results; in many divisions, less than 5% of participants score 18 or above.  Remember that everyone's goal should be individual and team improvement over time. The most critical step in the WordMasters Challenge™process is reviewing the tests and discussing the logic behind the analogiesDon't skip this important activity!

In the BLUE DIVISION, we had four teams post perfect scores of 200: the 5B team from Northpoint Elementary School in Granger, IN; the 7B team from Big Apple Academy in New York City; and the 8B teams from Lincoln Hall in Lincolnwood, IL and Peterson Middle School in Sunnyvale, CA. The 4B test proved to be especially challenging, with only 16 perfect scores submitted and a median team score of 138 points.  On the other hand, our seventh and eighth graders finished the year strong, with median team scores of 183 and 184, respectively.

One team posted a perfect score in the GOLD DIVISION of the WordMasters Challenge™ - congratulations to the 8G.1 team from Spartanburg School District 7 in Spartanburg, SC!  And a round of applause for Trisha C. from Bay Area Homeschool in Milpitas, CA -- Trisha was the only 6G student nationwide to post a perfect score on Meet #3.  The 6G test was particularly difficult, resulting in a median team score of only 124 points.  In addition, the 5G test was tougher than usual, with a median team score of 137 points.

Team Leaders, if you had one or more teams place among the Top Ten in its division and/or any of your students earned a perfect score, we will be sending you a DRAFT press release by May 29th. Since we email the press releases as Word documents, you may edit and distribute the press release at your discretion.  If you would like to create your own press release, click here for a downloadable template.

Be sure to examine the charts that follow the lists of Outstanding Teams, which are the best tools for assessing your own students' achievements.  As always, students scoring 18 or better should be extremely proud of their achievement.

Congratulations to the following Outstanding Teams in the Blue Division:
