2023-2024 WordMasters Challenge Meet #2 Results

The results of the second meet of the 37th annual WordMasters Challenge™ have been tabulated and posted!  Congratulations to all the teams that placed among the Top Ten in their division, as well as the students who earned a perfect score of 20! Please see the charts below for more details, or go to the View Reports page on your dashboard and select Meet #2 from the dropdown box.

We will be shipping out the medals and certificates for the 2023-2034 WordMasters Challenge™ at the beginning of April.  Please contact us if you have not received your package by April 30th and we will provide tracking information.  Additional medals and certificates may be purchased online and are usually shipped within 1-2 business days.  Note that all merchandise orders must be prepaid with a credit card or submitted with a school purchase order.

Meet #3 word lists were posted on February 26th and the Challenge tests will be available for download beginning March 29th.  We appreciate that scheduling the Challenge test can be difficult due to spring breaks and various year-end testing requirements, but we must strictly enforce the Meet #3 score submission deadline of Friday, April 26th, in order to post the Meet #3 and Year-End results on May 2nd.  Many of our participating schools are winding up their academic year in early May and preparing for award presentations, so we cannot extend the Meet #3 testing period.  Please schedule your school's Meet #3 Challenge accordingly as we will not accept any scores after April 26th -- no exceptions.

As always, please keep in mind that scores in the WordMasters Challenge™ do not reflect typical classroom results; in many divisions, less than 5% of participants score 18 or above.  Remember that everyone's goal should be individual and team improvement over time. The most critical step in the WordMasters Challenge™ process is reviewing the tests and discussing the logic behind the analogies. Don't skip this important activity!

In the BLUE DIVISION,  they are doing something right in South Carolina as four of the Top Ten schools in the 3B division hail from the Palmetto State.  A special shout out goes to the five teams posting perfect scores of 200 in the second meet: 4B team from Millridge Elementary School in Highland Heights, OH; 6B team from Tuckahoe Middle School in Richmond, VA; 7B team from Carleton Washburne School in Winnetka, IL; 8B team from Lincoln Hall in Lincolnwood, IL; and 8B team from Peterson Middle School in Sunnyvale, CA.

In the GOLD DIVISION of the WordMasters Challenge™, the third grade Challenge proved to be especially difficult with only 35 students submitting scores of 18 or higher.  Congratulations to the four third graders who posted a perfect score: Killian from Bibich Elementary School (IN), Piper from Spartanburg School District 7 (SC), and Harrison and Emma from Northwest Elementary School (SC).  The seventh grade team representing Kennedy Junior High School in Naperville, IL, captured first place in its division with a perfect score of 200.

Team Leaders, if you had one or more teams place among the Top Ten in its division and/or any of your students earned a perfect score, we will be sending you a DRAFT press release by March 11th. Since we email the press releases as Word documents, you may edit and distribute the press release at your discretion.  If you would like to create your own press release, click here for a downloadable template.

Be sure to examine the charts that follow the lists of Outstanding Teams, which are the best tools for assessing your own students' achievements.  As always, students scoring 18 or better should be extremely proud of their achievement.
