The second meet of the 2019-2020 WordMasters Challenge™ is in the books and results are summarized below.  Congratulations to all our participants, especially those representing the Top Ten schools in each division listed below as well as the students who achieved a perfect score of 20 on the most recent Challenge test.  Overall, Meet #2 proved to be especially challenging, with fewer perfect scores across most grades and divisions.  The Grade 3/Blue and Grade 6/Gold challenges were particulary difficult, with only 11 and 13 perfect scores, respectively.  However, we had several schools turn in perfect team performances with scores of 200 in the Blue Division, and one perfect team score in the Gold Division!

Team Leaders and parents, please keep in mind that scores in the WordMasters Challenge™ do not reflect typical classroom results; in many divisions, less than 5% of participants score 18 or above.  Remember that everyone's goal should be individual and team improvement over time. The most critical step in the WordMasters Challenge™process is reviewing the tests and discussing the logic behind the analogiesDon't skip this important activity!

In the BLUE DIVISION, we had a total of eight teams that achieved remarkable team scores of 200 points -- Northpoint Elementary School (4B, Granger, IN), Santiago Hills Elementary (4B, Irvine, CA), NYC Lab Middle School (6B  and 7B, New York, NY), Peterson Middle School (6B and 8B, Sunnyvale, CA), Bluffton Middle School (7B, Bluffton, SC) and Lincoln Hall (8B, Lincolnwood, IL). As mentioned above, the 3B test was especially tough, with only 11 students posting perfect scores.

One team posted a perfect score in the GOLD DIVISION of the WordMasters Challenge™ - congratulations to the seventh grade team from Kennedy Junior High in Naperville, IL! A special shout out to the sixth graders from Annunciation Orthodox School in Houston, TX, who posted a second place finish in only their first year of competition!  The 6G test was especially challenging this time, with only 13 perfect scores submitted.

Team Leaders, if you had one or more teams place among the Top Ten in its division and/or any of your students earned a perfect score, we will be sending you a DRAFT press release by March 15th. Since we email the press releases as Word documents, you may edit and distribute the press release at your discretion.  If you would like to create your own press release, click here for a downloadable template.

Be sure to examine the charts that follow the lists of Outstanding Teams, which are the best tools for assessing your own students' achievements.  As always, students scoring 18 or better should be extremely proud of their achievement.
